ABOUT THE ARTIST
Rachel Valentine is a multi-medium artist who specializes in preserved floral designs.
Having dabbled in everything from costume design to cosmetology to encaustic wax paintings, she ultimately found true love in the art of pressing flowers. After looking for a way to preserve her own bridal bouquet, Rachel began experimenting with pressing and soon mastered several floral preservation techniques including the traditional press system, silica gel preservation, and dry heat pressing. Having finally found her "Happy Medium," Pretty Petal Press was launched in 2019 from her dorm room at the College of Charleston. Each piece of artwork is handmade in her home art studio, now located in Cayce, SC.
Originally launched as a bridal bouquet preservation service, Pretty Petal Press has since evolved and now exclusively creates original artwork for commercial spaces such as restaurants, boutique hotels, store windows, and 3D art installations. Notable past clients include Blackberry Farm and Airbnb.
Rachel is currently working on her first original fine art collection that will be available to collectors for purchase beginning in 2025.
Creating unique and meaningful floral art that also tells a story about nature has been the joy of Rachel's life and she is excited to continue growing her business while connecting with people and flowers from all over the country through her artwork.
Rachel lives in Cayce, SC with her husband, Scott, her daughter, Billie, and their basset hound, Annie. She works full time in direct response marketing, raising millions of dollars annually for national nonprofit organizations. When she's not working or pressing flowers, you can find her indulging in all things pop culture, completing DIY home projects, or dancing along to her vinyl collection.
